Nino Andreatta Fellowship - Call for Applications
Alma Graduate School/Universita di Bologna is pleased to announce the
Nino Andreatta Fellowship for the academic year 2011-2012. The Nino
Andreatta Fellowship was created to honor the memory of Professor
Beniamino Andreatta and to help young researchers with significant
international experience to enter into the Italian Academy. This
program is open to scholars with a Ph.D. Degree in the Social
Sciences. Applicants shall be involved in theoretical or applied
research, with relevant implications for global politics, economics,
and business. The Scientific Board of the Fellowship, considered the
fact that the topic Nino Andreatta chose for his final lecture on the
date of his retirement from University, was the 1997 financial and
economic crisis in East Asia as well as instruments to avoid future
shocks, has determined that for the academic year 2011-2012 priority
will be given to Italian candidates who gained a Ph.D. abroad, in
management and economics.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND FELLOWSHIP DESCRIPTION:
- In order to apply, prospective candidates must have fully completed
a Ph.D. program abroad in the Social Sciences.
- Fellowships provide a salary of US $45.000,00, gross, plus benefits.
This fellowship also includes a US $10.000,00 research fund, which can
be used for research or conference travels or other research expenses.
Fellows can apply for additional research support during the first
year. The length of the first appointment is September 1st, 2011
through August 31st, 2012. Funds will be transferred in Euros
according to the exchange rate of the publication date of this call,
May 24th, 2011 (1 US $ = 0,709 Euro).
- Fellowships can be renewed for one or two years. Request for renewal
must be submitted by March 31st, 2012 and will be evaluated by April
15th, 2012 by the Selection Committee.
- Alma Graduate School will provide logistical, technological, and
secretarial support and will assist Fellows in finding a constructive
research environment within the Universita di Bologna.
RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF THE NINO ANDREATTA FELLOW:
- The Fellow is expected to carry out the research described in the
project proposal submitted at the time of application.
- The Fellow is also expected to teach a thirty-hour course in a
Master Program at Alma Graduate School, and to offer doctoral seminars
within the University of Bologna, (to be defined together with the
Department Chair).
- The Fellow will be entitled to apply for the support of a research assistant.
- The Fellow is encouraged to apply, with the assistance of Alma
Graduate School and the Universita di Bologna, for national and
international research calls and tenders to receive further financial
support for his/her research project.
- An office for the Fellow will be provided by one of the Departments
of the University of Bologna.
- The Fellow may apply to the Istituto di Studi Avanzati of the
University of Bologna for accommodation and other logistic
requirements.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application materials include:
- Application form.
- Curriculum vitae, including the list of publications and discussion papers.
- PDF copies of the three publications or discussion papers, which the
candidate considers his/her most relevant contributions so far.
- Project proposal: 1000 words describing the research and writing
plans during the planned period of stay, specifying the expected
results.
- Two letters of recommendation.
The application form is to be sent in electronic format via e-mail
along with the project proposal and curriculum vitae. Letters of
recommendation are also to be submitted as PDF files from the official
academic e-mail of the referee. All application material, including

Interviews will take place between June 27th and June 30th, 2011.
Notifications will reach successful candidates by July 6th, 2011.
